Food writing: Indian Independence Day and the Culinary Map

I love this map. It came to me by way of a good friend of mine. It does sport a lot of the specialities of our country.

Prior to independence, India was actually a collection of over three hundred princely states. One of the ofshoots of the independence movement (and I apologize for being an objective chef here) was that it was easier to travel between states and savour the true culinary delights that the place has to offer.

Otto, the publisher of my cookery book, has been extremely pleased with the brisk sales that our books have been having. He wants to give some of them away (in support of the blog site and the fantastic readers that I am supposed to have…don’t let him know, but I have been inflating the figures).

Now since most of you have a copy anyway, you can use this opportunity to win one for your friends.

We are now accepting stories of your most memorable meal or most wacky experience while travelling through India. The wackier, the crazier and the more hilarious, the better your chances at winning. Write to Chez Zubin here
